I have not tried the 125's. But I've had good luck and was impressed with the accuracy and performance of 130 gr Barnes bullets. They seem to like max loads with a jump. My rifle liked Varget and RL-15. MV around 3,050 FPS with 20" barrel.
I have been wanting to try them.
Check out sierra manual. I was thinking the 125 game kings and varget. If i remember right they were 3000fps. But the h332 h335 powders look a bit better for the lighter bullets.
Hi I shoot them all the time 125 & 130 grainers, with my 26" 12 twist Shillen and 44 to 45 gr of H4198, they exit @3500FPS plus, I don't deny it's a hot load, but for some reason that chamber takes it without a fuss.

So what kind of accuracy are you getting then....I would like to see what the chamber looks like in your rifle..LOL i GOT TO CHECK the specs on that one...max is 39 grain..you drop tubing it?Quote:

Hey Ace, accuracy is good with the 125s, not as good as they 110gr Sierra's or 110gr Vmax's, with 45 to 46gr of H4198 at 3700 FPS, my best groups are with the Lapua 100gr with 47gr of H4198 at 3900 FPS.

We used the 125 Nolser BT in my son's 308 when he was 12. We used the cookbook youth loads from the Hodgdon website: 38.0 gr H4895, 125 Nosler BT, 2.800" COAL, Fed 210 primer, and Winny brass. Worked like a charm. Never shot them as a full powder load. The recoil was minimal. When he shot his full loads using 150 AccuBonds and a shift charge of Varget, he was shocked by the recoil difference. Luck, Tim

with the same excellent results, I won't post the FPS, I don't want to be responsible for anyone spitting up on there key board, I have never measured it, but that 300 Winmag trajectory, has to be close to 500 yards before it starts dropping, the true test will be when I finally get that 30" 17 twist 300 RUM, I am just waiting for my income tax refund to pick it up, I will give a full report when I finally get my hands on it, that should be interesting to say the least,

I guess I fail to understand you loading style or what ever..According to my manual you are way over the max..You shouldn't be posting stuff like that.Someone might try to copy it and get killed...With that load you are going to be getting hair line cracks in your lugs and be impossible to see them but you will know it when the bolt comes back into your face...I seen it happen to a hot rodder on time a few years ago..Aint pretty..

I assumed we were talking 308 win 125 gr as the OP stated?? those velocities are way beyond anything I've seen. Do the bullets hold together well on impact?? Just curious.
Yes we are talking 125gr at least I am, the key is the 12 Twist it does not over spin them, between a 10 and a 12 twist, that's 20% less rotational speed but with they extra FPS I'm getting it brings it right back up to where you want it, with the benefit of extra fps, So yes the bullits do stay together and do there intended job only better,
To all you newbies and doubters out there, I didn't bump my head one morning and start cramming as much powder as I can into casings, this is years of trail and error, and willing to try things with no precedence or support, I work hard for my stuff and would not wreck it carelessly, and like having my body intact, so If I felt it was not safe for me or my rigs I would abstain,
