Re: Midway Varmint bullets
The issue is the twist, or the RPM of the bullet.
I ran into this a few years back with my FP in 223.
Midway lists velocity, but no twist or RPM rating; which is the relevant info.
I know the .224" 55 gr dogtowns have about a 240-260,000 RPM rating
Don't know that it translates to a 243. but here is the formula, and your RPM(if it does)
MV * 720 / twist = RPM
3000 * 720 / 9 = 240,000 RPM
Re: Midway Varmint bullets
Slow them down. Like Darkker says, you are ripping them apart with centrifugal force. They are quite accurate and devastating on varmints when kept within their limits.
Re: Midway Varmint bullets
Thanks for the info. I have a few left yet and will slow down some more.
