I have a feeling that the factory installed Picatinny scope rail on my model 10T's receiver is not level. With the barreled action removed from the stock, what surfaces can I use a bubble level on to check on this?

Dumb question 2.0, which axis do you suspect the rail to be off.
I suspect that a hole might be slightly off on the Y axis, which should have a value of 0. I removed the rail and reinstalled it, I noticed that some of the screws went in easily while others did not. This changed depending on the order in which I installed the screws

With the action out if the stock, install a long screw in place of the action screw. You will need to level the longer screw (either vertical or horizontal) and then you can use a level or a quick square to check the rail. Does any of that make sense?

I understand what your saying. And have tried similar, although the not exact methods. I took the rail off, remounted it. This seems to have helped, but still not perfect. What I am finding is that among the length of the rail it cants slightly in a few different spots. I am sure that when the scope is on in the rings this is corrected naturally however it will put uneven pressure on my scope tube but not a significant amount. Should I decide to upgrade to a badger or seekins rail in the future. Or decide to run a one piece mount like the NF unimount. I should be able to live with it for the time being.Quote:

If you believe you have an issue then I would contact Savage and let them deal with it. Otherwise you will have to deal with it forever and if you want to sell it then that is an issue too. Of course if you send it in you take your chances there too.
