Can a Stagger Feed be converted to a Center Feed?
Not without some milling machine work to the action.
Sorry to necroBump for my first post but I joined because I am having feeding issues on my new to me 308 model 110FP (stagger feed) that I think are due to damaged feed lips and I had a bear of a time removing my blind magazine. I tried using the twisting screwdriver method and only succeeded in breaking the tip of the flathead.
Ultimately I was only able to get it out by applying significant pressure to the left and right sides of the magazine to pull the front tab out of the slot and even then it required some "persuasion" with a brass hammer. I reshaped do the lips a little and fixed the bow I put in the sides of the body getting it out but had to do some work to modify the body so that I could get it back in. The gun feeds a little better but it's still not 100%. Unless I can figure out how the mag removal/replacement works I have to imagine that I'd mess up a replacement mag body just the same so I'll probably have to cough up the $209 for a DBM kit from these guys http://cdiprecisiongunworks.com .
Any advice on what else I could do to get the mag in and out? Would using a padded C-clamp to pull the front and back of the mag towards each other (and the tabs out of the slots) work better than crushing the left and right sides together like I ended up doing?
