ONCE AGAIN, READ what I asked, I was not aware that Shilen & Crirerion Bbl. were OME" Original Manufacture Equipment " and look at the link
I have had a couple over the years. No problems.
Thank you , were they "shooters" ?
Semper Fi
..
Both were 243's. Still have one of them and it shoots Hornady 58gr Superformance, and 95gr Federal Fusion factory really well.Quote:

An OEM/OME takeoff barrel will shoot just like any factory gun. You may get a great one, and you may not. Like most Savage barrels it will likely look like a chattered mess with a borescope and like to collect copper...yet still shoot good enough. Once you step up to a lapped barrel you will have more consistency and less/easier cleaning. It's all a matter of how much $$$ you have and your goals...
My .. wasn't meant to you. I don't know how to delete so I used the ".."
His response, "ONCE AGAIN, READ what I asked, I was not aware that Shilen & Crirerion Bbl. were OME" Original Manufacture Equipment and look at the link", to your attempt to help was freaking rude.
Before buying a Savage "OEM", and looking to save a few coins, I'd look
at E.R.Shaw first. Nothing wrong with dealing With NSS. Jim's good people.
I buy my target actions from them, and a Criterion here and there.
After watching his rude responses and comments Ted, it wont be long and no one will answer his questions. Seems like if you need help you might soften the attitude. Bet the Marine thing is stolen valor and he is a leftist. Don't let it bother you.Quote:
As i said i missed that you wanting OEM. sorry my mistake, I misread what he was asking.
Ted.....Robinhood did not mean you. Your good.

I am. The Semper Fi was addressed to me because I was a Marine.Quote:
The marine thing ? Not sure what you meant
I did not steal any ones valor and I am not a leftist. I earned my stripes with six years in the Corps and Vietnam in 66 and 67.
I guarantee it wasn't directed at you. Thank you for your service. I was in the Suck from 1990-1996.
LOL! So you embraced "the suck" huh? Good on ya!Quote:

I followed Robinhood’s post not sure what else I can say.
Ted. If you deleted some messages guys could pm you.
I caught the "rude" on this post and another post it was directed at me and some others.
It's got to be the result of Covid cause this guy has been around a while. And we all are better than this.
When a question is asked there is no need to "jump" on anyone
when you don't get the answer you want. We are here to help each other not "knit-pick" or criticize.
If someone misinterprets a question or the question wasn't written plain enough things often get misconstrued. None of us are perfect and we shouldn't expect anyone else to be.
I got to thinking about this a bit more......If anyone has purchased a Savage off the shelf,
"We All" have experience with these "OEM" barrels. Jim does not stock OEM barrels as one
might think, He does however have "PULLED" barrel's that he sells off......It's the way it is worded.
Second that. I have had good experiences both with Shaw and James.Quote:

No idea where he gets these.
It's fairly common for smiths to sell "new take-offs" (not Savage so much) from customers that buy a factory rifle for the components to be used with a new barrel for a custom build.
But Jim doesn't do gunsmithing- so I have no clue as to where these come from.
That aside because it really doesn't matter- as said, you roll the dice on any mass-production barrel. You may get a tack driver- or not.
Bottom line, if you don't want to roll the dice on maximum accuracy spend the coin that's required. For many, minute of angle is fine, and don't need to spend four or five bills to cut that in half.
Confucius or one of those wise people said the only fool is the 1 that doesn't know there a fool and other words we're all fools lol
