Does Savage produce a model like the 12FV now? Meaning and inexpensive rifle with a decent barrel?
Cabelas web site says there is one in the Albuquerque store.
Checked yesterday and they are still out of stock.
I just purchased a new in box 12fv in 308 today in Wixom, Michigan at a store called Range USA. $392 total out the door. They are not listed on their website. It has the Cabelas sticker on the buttstock.
Should I stop checking stock for 12 FV rifles? I have been looking for 2 or 3 months in .308Win and 6.5Creedmoor, across a few different states, have not been able to find one in stock. I signed up for email notifications, but I'm not entirely certain what store or stores the email notification is for.
I see that Cabelas still has a few other rifles on the website that I'm pretty certain have been discontinued for at least a year.
I recently emailed Cabela's customer service about this. The response was effectively, "We don't have any in stock. We don't have any orders for more. Maybe we will order more. Maybe we won't. Have you considered an Axis?"
Then, "I show that a couple of our Canadian Store do carry the Savage 12FV Bolt Action Rifle".
Helpful.
The process for an American citizen to buy a 12FV in Canada (and bring it home) is left as an exercise for a motivated buyer. I believe it's possible but in a laughably convoluted and expensive way.

PS: Maybe they just don't sell well in Canada but maybe it means they are still in production. Small hope?
I really doubt that if Cabela's has no new orders for any 12 FVs and the 12 FV is made exclusively for Cabela's that you can conclude that they are still in production.
I would conclude that the couple in Canada are 'unsold stock' from a previous Cabela's order.
