I would second that skepticism. Savage offered the Model 12 LRPV and I think the Model 12 VLP with a 1-9" twist 22-250 for a few years, but that option has been discontinued for a few years now.

Wow. $500 for a 12FV? No thanks. Cabela's regular price for the 12FV is $419 and has a $30 rebate currently. They're a great bargain when on sale and combined with a rebate, but $500 is a bit out of hand. Much better off at that price point to pony up another $100 and get the 10T-SR for $599. It comes with the Accu-stock, Accu-trigger, 20 MOA rail, threaded barrel, tactical bolt knob, and a bottom metal with box magazine. It has a $50 rebate right now too. I have several 12FVs in various calibers and they are great guns for what they are. I also have a 10T which shoots under 1MOA to beyond 1000 yards and is an incredible value considering all the features they cram into a sub-$600 rifle.
Quick follow-up. I was on the Cabela's site today and see that they have the 10T-SRs on sale for $499.99(regular $599.99) with a $50 rebate on top of that. They're available in long and short action and even a left hand version. Lots of rifle for $450!!!
Anyone have any info if Cabelas/Bass Pro will put on the 12FV on sale again for $319, I need another one and why not get it it again at that price again?! They're currently $419 with a $75 rebate, close enough I suppose. Acquired A Boyds Thumbhole Varmint stock, that needs an action.
If they do it will be on black friday
Makes me want to go ahead and get some discount gift cards to be ready...but I don't want to be stuck with them if they don't go on sale again. Oh the mental anguish...
This is my Cabelas 12FV. I got this .223 to do some cheap training and kill a few Coyotes. I had a buddy cut the barrel down to 22", and it feels much better balanced and threaded it for 5/8-24. I had the Boyd's stock- that I pillar and Marine Tex bedded and sponge camo'ed, PTG Stealth bottom metal and Nikon X-1000 left over from my 10 FCP-SR build. I have about 400 rounds down the pipe and is starting to really be a great, cheap rifle. This is my best 3 shot 100yd group, stock red box Hornady 55gr VMax at 3240.
Savage is running another $100 rebate right now. I had to make a trip to Cabela’s this morning for a 10T-SR
Cabellas does not show a 100 rebate for the FV. It shows a 100 dollar rebate for the 10T-SR though. Am I missing something?
So what are the down sides of using a 10T-SR as a base action? Looks like bottom bolt release, smooth barrel nut and non jeweled bolt (if you care)?
I didn't see the rebate on the 12fv, so it might not apply. Sorry about that. The personal down side of the 10t-sr is my H-S precision stock is for a top bolt release, so I will have to stick with the accustock. This is my first bottom bolt release, and I've had it less than a day, but I think I will get used to it. I bought it because I filed my ATF form 1 for a suppressor build and I need a threaded barrel. I cannot find anyone around me to thread my other rifle, so I bought this rifle and I'm going to sell my other stuff.
I just called the Savage Rebate center and the 12FV is not eligible because it is not an accufit rifle. Anything that has both an accutrigger and accustock is eligible right now.
Cabelas is showing a $75 rebate for the 12FV.
The funny thing is when they first put it up they must have not gotten the 5 up on the $75 rebate guns. All of them showed a $7 rebate and the price was a whopping $7 bucks off.
Looks like they have fixed that now.
Whether there really is a rebate on the FV remains to be seen.
I was looking at the rebate form that they have on Cabelas, and I didn't see the
model 12 FV listed.
Last year rebate was a lot of confusion, Axis went through 12FV hit and miss.
Looks like the black friday ad has them listed at $374.97 this year with a $75 rebate. So at $300, I think I'll pass.
Black Friday flyer in the mail today has the 12FV (.204, .223, 6.5CM, & 22-250) on sale for $299.97 after rebate. Sale runs 11/27 - 12/1.
I wonder about that rebate,,, according to the fine print, the 12fv does not qualify.

Cabela's website aslo states $75 rebate on the 12FV this morning - https://www.cabelas.com/browse.cmd?c...&CQ_zstype=REG
Since the sale starts 11/27 it's possible a different rebate form may show up later. To be sure, I'd take the printed ad and a copy of the their website advertisement to the store and require they provide the rebate form that applies to the advertised sale price.

That's why I have a hard time justifying a new barrel for my rifles. :)
Mine shot well with the factory stock which also had steel pillars only replaced because I wanted a stock that fit me better.
Yep, stocks are important to fit right if you want your best shooting. But, I like the looks thing too :)
There is a new stock option pro mag archangel . Fits top bolt release and bottom release . Adj cheek and lop. Detachable box mag comes with 7 but ten is like under 40 bucks . Stock under 200 bucks . Fits Gen II And IiI . Cool looking I think . Review in awesome new stock thread . With pics.
