Those thumbhole stocks look sweet ! Here in NY state, I think a combination of detachable magazine and thumbhole stock might be in violation of the new assault rifle ban crap ? I'll definitely have to look into that when I get around to order a stock .:sorrow:
Thankyou,to be honest after restocking the edge.223 and axis.308 in the boyds I just look at them and hope for decent weather so I can shoot.I don't even look at my new B-Mag .17swm.sitting in the corner.(at least til someone makes a decent stock for it)
Finally, my stock showed up at the post office today. Now I just need to covert it to a lefty and all will be sweet...

Is there enough meat in the forend to possibly open up the barrel channel to accept a varmint or bull profiled barrel in these?
Getting ready to order a a Boyds Stock for my .308 axis , now is there anything else i should know when i order this from Boyds besides it being a short action and having a removable box magazine ?? . I really like the Prairie hunter design with the molded in cheek rest but also do like the classic design . Also when looking on the Boyds Website almost every design /model for the Axis shows out of stock ,is this normal or ???? and it's about a 4 week turn around to get the gunstock right ??
if anyone can give me some info i would appreciate it as i don't want to order the wrong Gun stock LOL!!!
Yes, your .308 Axis is a short-action, and all Axis rifles have a removable/detachable magazine. I assume your Axis is right handed, since the stocks only come right handed. I prefer the Prairie Hunter style because the raised check peice area on the stock gives me better eye alignment with a scope. Just my personal preference. Also make sure to check out the custom options.
just ordered the prairie hunter design in forest camo for my .308 now i've got to wait the long 4 weeks for it to show up so i can install it
You'll love it Marine. I got the Nutmeg for Christmas. I'm going to order the pepper next time but I think I'll wait till it's back in stock..money might as well be sitting in my account. 4 weeks is a lifetime waiting on something.
I ordered a classic forest for a 308 on 12/13/13 and not shipped yet! I called them about a week ago and wanted to add the stippling to the order, once ordered the order can not be changed. Make sure you add any options you want before you complete your order.
Hey LumberJack what rings did you use on your 22-250?
curious if any of you with a Boyds Prairie hunter stock are using a raised cheek pad such as this on yours and if it fits well , i know the prairie hunter design does have a raised cheek rest but just looking to make a better more comfortable pad
http://www.amazon.com/BLACKHAWK-Tact...ords=cheek+pad
That particular pad will probabl piss you off more than anything as it will most likely move around on you to much. They have ones you can build up under and elastic cover that would most likely work better for you. I will always prefer something more solid like a Karsten or cardboard and duct tape that will not move.
like this: http://www.amazon.com/Beartooth-Stoc...ds=cheek+riser
I would imagine so. When I went through this dilema with my ProHunter stock i determined that the only right way to do it was with a Karsten. I wasn't happy about drilling holes in the stock, but once install and adjusted it was exactly what I needed and it doesn't move at all!
I did it on a $225 SSS stock. Boyds are much more replaceable at $99 and if it allows you to shoot better/more comfortably you'll quickly forget about those 2 little holes!
Has anyone checked out the Bradley Cheek rest
Out of curiosity , has anyone received any stocks from Boyds ordered after the first week of december?
Will call them monday regarding an order that should've been shipped by now but was just curious ..
thx.
I ordered one on 12/05/2013,,still awaiting shipment,I called and get there voice mail,,
Ordered 12/15 and anxiously awaiting its arrival.
I must have gotten lucky, ordered a light weight thumbhole in pepper for 223 edge,a prairie hunter in applejack for 308 axis(it was on clearance for 48$) and a thumbhole for the 17hmr in sand color also on sale for 40$..Ordered 12-19-13,shipped12-23-13,received 12-30-13.Axis stocks installed fit & finish great..
ordered my forest camo prairie hunter gun stock on 1-8-14 and just checked Boyds website and it says ... "awaiting shipping"
12-9-13 lightweight thumbhole, forest camo for a 223 and still waiting for shipment.
ordered a classic forest on 12/13/13 still waiting for shipment! Maybe they take a week off between Christmas and new years?
I also ordered my pepper thumbhole on 12/13/13 and awaiting shipment… It said 4 week lead time when I ordered so I imagine with the holidays it is set back a little. I hope it ships soon!!!! :(
Has anyone added pillars to their Boyds? If so, where did you get them and how hard was it to add? Thanks for the help.
Placed my order on 12/01/13, I emailed them last week and they said it will ship on 1-20-14 because they where waiting for supplies to come in.
I placed my order 12/03/13. They told me last week the same thing as the previous post. She said they had a lot of them to ship, so if they start today, I wonder when they will get to mine.
I ordered mine on 1/14/14 and we will se how long it takes to get here
I got my shipping notice and tracking number today .
What is the standard time for a custom order to get shipped?
So about 6 weeks for you, also Christmas and new years included in that time. I ordered mine 1/10/2014 so I'm thinking by Valentines day at the longest.
I wanted to wait until after the first "batch" just in case there were any problems, but after reading the reviews here and watching you-Tube I'm more than ready now. Let me know how it fits when you get it.
I got my tracking number for my axis stock today, It was ordered on 12/13/2013. So it looks like about 6 weeks not the 4 that boyds say on there web sight!
All backorders and current orders for the Axis/Edge will ship this week. All orders have been made stock wise - just have been waiting on outside vendors for the trigger components, which we have now received an ample supply of. We apologize for any and all inconveniences and will be getting stocks in your hands very soon!
Thats what I call great customer service !!
Thanks Boyd's
We will probably keep the 4 week lead time on there until we can assure that we are receiving all vendor provided parts consistently! If you order knowing there is a potential 4 week lead time and receive it in 4 days then we are doing good, right?!?!
Im close to pulling the trigger on one of the prarie hunter but might hold off to see if they get enough interest to start building the tacticool. I spoke with Jen at Boyds and she said they typically go to their request forms ( that they have on the main page of their website) to see what people are interested in next. She encouraged me and anyone else interested in the tacticool to fill out that form.
I'd love to see a tacticool for the Axis. Filled out a request form awhile ago, so hopefully more people will, and we'll get it.
Well thats 2...the tacticool is in our grasp! Lol. Lets make this happen.
even though i ordered the prairie hunter in forest camo and awaiting it's arrival i wouldn't mind a tacticool stock so now make that (3)
Make that (4) for the tacticool stock.
I have started a request log/poll for a TactiCool Axis/Edge in the Vendor Announcements & Sales - if you are interested in one please post there. Thanks in advance for everyone's input!! ~ Jen
