So Ive heard. You guys are dealing with serious cold compared to us. Last deep freeze for us was in 2012. Got down to "0".....plumbers and home repair guys made out big time.

Yeah the plumbers and water well guys are making a killing this year. As I just spent $2k on a new well pump....
OK Did a little test over the weekend with my Rem 700 in .308 with 26" barrel.
Same brass, same weight brass, same neck tension, same case prep.
1000 yard test
45 degrees
41.9 IMR 4064
175 SMK
2492 - 2498 - 2505 fps
60 degrees
41.9 IMR 4064
175 SMK
2531 - 2538 - 2534 fps
So at 45 degrees bullet drop is 450.5 & MOA is 43.3.
At 60 degrees bullet drop is 435.5 & MOA is 41.6.
So approximately 2 MOA difference.
Hope this helps everyone.

Great info. right under 2 MOA is about what I got this weekend......dont that beat all a?
Went out this weekend as well and found my poi to be high in 70dg weather. Im gonna do the common sense thing such that as you and chrono in hotter temps.
I know Im sending mine a bit faster than yours but Ive gotten the same outcome (more-or-less)
30ish fps faster means a whopping 15-20" adjustment @ 1K.
Seasonal adjustments sure can be a chore. I wouldnt complain if I was retired and had lots of spare time but the fact is Im not.
Oh well....it is what it is....adapt/adjust/improvise as they say.
Yep. 15 to 20 inches at 1000 means I miss my 12" target!!! Retirement is great here in Vegas. 15 minute drive & I'm all alone in the desert. :) We even set up our own range with markers out to 1000 & some in between for the distances we shoot at the match. Good practice & saves a 25 minute drive to the range. Happy shooting!!

15 minute drive and your in the desert?.......doesnt get any better than that.
my drive is about a 35min the desert.
One of the cons of shooting out in the canyon desert valley where we shoot at is theres yucca/grass/misquits/ and growth in general. All the targets Ive permanently installed stand on axle shafts Ive buried in concrete so the actual target is about 2ft from the ground with growth all around them so if you miss its hard to read the miss due to no splash. There is a spot where its open and plenty of dirt @ 970yds where I like to place a 8"x6" electronic target. Thats what I like to use to verify my call on wind and here latetly?..my gain in elevation to start sending them to the rest of the targets that I cannot call miss. You have to be dead on from 8 out to 1300.
Some days are fab there other are ?????
Last weekend I was able to hit 1 shot hits from 970-1000-1100...this weekend wasnt the case
Well misses are easy since my shooting buddy(outlawjoec) has a remote camera. It's the BOMB!!! Set it about 10 yards from the target & go back as far as you want Has a monitor to view the hits & misses. Takes about the same time to set up as a chrono. Save driving out to the targets! :) We have a cleared area that can accommodate 4 shooters & goes to about 1200, farther if we go across the dirt road. Do you have a bench or shoot prone? I made a bench but can't seem to get a stable set of legs. Tried a few combos but still a little shaky.

I have a portable bench I take out. I cant shoot prone anymore, my neck cant take it. My job has taken its toll on my shoulders and neck
.
Theres a gent that shoots at the range thats semi sponsered by Berger. He has a camera that Berger gave him for trial runs. The camera doesnt do well at the range because of rise,s and dips from the terrain at 1K. Does well from 100 out to 6. He mentioned the company that makes the cameras set up (Bullseye) was going to send him an seperate anntena.
Sure,d like to have one but seeing as how Im a tech at a Ford dealership, I have access to old car alarm system Ive turned into "hit alarms" as I call them. When hit, they trigger high lumen LED lights. the processor resets itself after 30 sec. and you get to shoot again.
The area we shoot at can accommodate 30-40....but it usually 5-6 shooters on any given sunday.
The bench I use is small protable bench my wife picked up at Walgreens for cheap. I like it in the way that the legs are 4 position adjustable. I have them set low so I can set down atop an old plastic army 40mm ammo can, lay my legs thru the bottom of the table, sit upright and shoot comphy. My shooting buddies make fun of it but by the end of the day?....Im still shooting while there taking breaks trying to strecth out the kinks in there neck.
Altitude is about 1880 in the desert & 2800 at our range. Went out yesterday & had a 3 shot group 1-1/4" at 300 yards. Moved to 600 & it opened up a bit. Going to our regular range today & shoot some silhouette.

1.25 @ 300 is good by me....real good.
Im steadly working with 4064 and 168smk. Getting real close. I tried copying Fed. Gold. match with 42.8gr of 4064 with the 168 smk,s but there speeds arent matching mine (not suprised) Mine didnt pattern as well either.
I drop,d the load down to 42.3 and am getting 1/2" patterns @100 semi consistantly. Im going to start working around that charge weight in 1-2tenths and see if theres any more improvement. Cant do anything this weekend though.......the winds from the great southwest are playing havic.............not good for load development at all.
