But do many of y'all load for it with jacketed bullets for plinking purposes or target shooting ?
I find it good for long days of shooting at 200 yards and under.

No experience with it but it does sound interesting for short range target work.
Sounds as if it may be simular to another obscure cartridge.....7.62 X 39.

Sounds a lot like a 30 br

Similar to a 30BR.
Preceded the BR by a few decades.

I load for 30BR. (Wonderfull round) I would say the 30BR would be a good choice for cast bullets as well.
You may want to talk to Randy (RG) Robinette (BIB bullets) (( I also believe that Randy is in the NBRSA hunterclass hall of fame.)) Randy has a lot of experience with hunterclass rounds. (Even though the 30BR and 308 1/2 don't fit the criteria.) Randy is known as the father of the 30BR. Randy mostly shoots a 30x47 that is made from (I believe) old 308 BR brass. (Small primer, different thickness to the case.)

The BR's are excellent rounds.
Have several barrels in 7BR, 6BR, and 22BR.
Also have a factory left-hand single-shot Remington 40XB in 6BR.
Have quite a bit of original factory brass from back when it was a regular production item.

I also have a few of the BR calibers. 2 x 22br ( 1 rifle and 1 pistol), 1 x 6mm br pistol (encore), 3 x 6.5br ( 1 encore pistol, 1 savage pistol, 1 rifle), 1 x 7mm br pistol. All are easy to load for and easy to tune. Lapua brass lasts forever. R-P brass is good for about 10 loads before you start to crack necks. Been thinking of a 20br and eventually a 30br for cast lead plinking.
