Okay everyone please check my work. I am starting brass work-up in anticipation of my barrel getting here. My plan is to use a gutted 375RUM for FL sizing and a standard 338RUM die set for neck sizing and bullet seating. Am I on the right track? Should I kick the shoulder back a couple of thousandths with the 338 die when necking up, or just size the neck only without touching the shoulder? Any brass techniques would be greatly appreciated!

I use 300 RUM brass and I have one of Shawn's (defensive edge) die set's to do the rest!
Ah yes, that would be the easy way. However, I just can't spend that much on dies. I think the method I mentioned should work. Just looking for someone to proofread my work.

Put the 338 expander in the 375 RUM FL die.
Expand and FL size all your new brass at once.
That way you won't be pushing too far with the 338 die.
You shouldn't need to bump the shoulder until after they've all been fired.
I'm going the same route that you are with the dies for my Edge. I would just neck-up the brass without bumping the shoulder, then fire form it. Here is and email address for a company that modifies std. dies to use bushings if your interested. I believe he charges $35 to do the bushing conversion.

Personally I have a tapered expander on my 338 RUM sizing die. To date I have yet to find a need to size that last .090 on the Edge/300RUM case.
When I set my headspace i did it a hair tight. That way you get a bit of case bounceback which elliminates pushing any shoulders. I use my 338 WSM sizing die for neck sizing so if there was a need to bump a shoulder I could.

I'll order up a 338 set, gut the expander, throw it in the 375 and away I go. You guys are great! I'll post pictures of the build as it progresses.
