What mounts for my Stevens 200?
Ok I got a long action Stevens 200 in 25-06.. what mounts do I need round or flat?
Then Do you guys recommend low, medium , or high mounts? WHat are the advantages to the higher lengths?
My scope is going to be a Vortex Crossfire 6-24x50mm scope
Thanks for the help
Re: What mounts for my Stevens 200?
You need bases for a Savage/Steven long action...round rear
With a 50mm obj., you'll probably need high rings depending on what bases you use.
My preference is for steel bases and rings but that's just me. Weaver grand slam and Warne are the bases I use most. I almost always use Burris signature zee rings when I can.
Re: What mounts for my Stevens 200?
I am going to be using 1 piece EGW picanny mounts...
so I should get the high rings?
Thanks!
Re: What mounts for my Stevens 200?
Do a search on the combination of your ring and base height. You "might" get by with medium rings and in my opinion the lower the rings the better the cheek weld especially with the standard stevens stock.
Re: What mounts for my Stevens 200?
If you're not married to the idea of a EGW base and some rings, the Talley lightweight one piece mounts are nice. I have a set on a Vanguard, and a set of lows with a 40mm Nikon on my Stevens.
Re: What mounts for my Stevens 200?
I've got a .243 long action (older flat back) with the EGW base and Burris Signature Zee medium rings mounting a Bushnell 2.5-10x50mm scope. There is more than enough clearance between the bell and the barrel and I would use low rings if there were such an animal in the Signature Zee line. The Crossfire isn't much bigger around. Medium rings will be plenty high and you might be able to get away with low rings. I'm mounting a 3-12x44mm Bushnell on a new rifle with an EGW base. I was going to use SS medium tactical rings but they are WAY too high. The EGW base will pretty much allow you to go with one height lower than you normally would.
Re: What mounts for my Stevens 200?
EGW bases are pretty high, so low rings will work fine.
