Which one of these scopes for 600 - 1000 yard prone shooting
Savage 12 F/TR .308 shooting 600 - 1000 yards.
Help me decide which one I should get between these models. Or if there is another scope preference $500 is the budget.
Bushnell Elite 4200 Tactical 6-24x 50mm Side Focus *Mil-Dot
Vortex Viper 6.5-20x 50mm Side Focus *Dead-Hold BDC
Vortex Viper 6.5-20x 50mm Side Focus *Mil-Dot

Which one has the longest eye relief?
Prone shooting helps to provide you with a slightly off centered eyebrow if you don't have enough eye relief.
Will you be shooting competition?
If not, I would look around for a Leupold fixed 12 or 16 power.

Local club competitions, yes.

Do you have to dial on the run? (different targets at different yardages shot in the same leg)
Would still go the 12 or 16 fixed. Fixed 24x would be work as well. The best would probably 20x if you have any mirage issues. Turrets would be a must.

i have a mildot now i kinda wish it was a fine plex its a little thick on far targets but thats just my impression. the fixed super snipers get good reviews are inexpensive and have the mildot

Single target only.
You shoot, they pull the target down and mark, put the target back up.

A fixed 16 or 20 would be your best bet for the money.

This is what my set up is, but you could get a 4-16x50mm FFP PST in MOA or MIL with a custom turret in MOA or MIL. I really like these new Vortex PST scopes.

Here is the Bushnell Elite 4200 6-18x50mm with Mil Dots which I replaced with the Vortex PST FFP MOA scope with the Custom Turret. It also has a EGW 20 MOA rail with a B-Square Level and Burris Extreme Tactical Low rings & Butler Creek Flip Covers. The last two pics show the Stockade bolt handle with their lift kit and the fluting by SSS to give it a little "bling". :) :) :)

I personally wouldnt use the BDC reticle. I would instead opt for either a target dot or a fine crosshair(if you can find one) for the Vortex(v-plex wide is nice). Since you know your target distance and it wont change theres no need for the BDC.
