MKII G v. F
Although one stock is wood and the other synthetic, there is the additional difference in that the G stock appears to be a Monte Carlo and the F stock has a straight comb. I do not have either on hand in any LGS to look at, so I am just going off the pictures online. I am getting one of them and plan on using the iron sights only, there will be no scope mounted. Is one of them better for use with irons?

I can't speak to the G model but when I lay my cheek down on the comb of my MKII F, I get a perfect sight picture with iron sights.

I have a B22 F mine is in 22 wmr, and it comes with open sights that are very adjustable and usable. It also comes in a compact and regular model with the only difference the LOP and barrel length. Mine is the compact model and it has a 18" barrel 22 wmr, it's accurate and functions very well.

Have had a Mark II F in the past and using the open sights was easy and clear. YMMV but also FWIW I currently have a Mark II FVSR that is scoped and the stock (same as the F just larger barrel channel for the heavy barrel) does great with a scope also. It's plain jane but gets the job done well either way, and doesn't get dinged up like wood and usually saves a few bucks on the sticker price.
