Converting 30-06 to 338 Edge

I've got a left handed savage 110 30-06 (~1990), long action standard shank that doesn't get much use anymore.

I'm interested in converting this to a 338 edge. I've done a lot of reading, so I at least know it will work, but what all do I need?

Things I know I need:
-Barrel, muzzle break, new stock, new trigger

Things I can't find answers to:
-new barrel nut?
-what changes to bolt?
-what else?

I realize it would be easier to convert a magnum bolt gun (which I'm assuming is different than what I have), but I just don't see lefty 110 long actions very often come up for sale. I could sell this for ~$300, but finding the "right" rifle to replace it with would be difficult. I'm guessing it would be more cost effective to just convert this one. Thoughts?

The barrel nut wouldn't have to change. The bolt head itself will have to be replaced to a magnum bolt head. The magazine would have to be modified if you want a repeater.

So, a $300-400 barrel, $20 bolt face, $75 muzzle break, $300 stock, $100 trigger, add glass and go? That's it?

That should do it. I would look at a single shot follower and have it throated for the long 300 gr bullets. The std PT&G reamer is set up to feed from a rem lenght mag and that puut a bunch of bullet in the case. Also look at the brakes that are listed in the classifieds section of BR central. A friend has one and it works very well for $40.00 I'd say as good as my Defensive Edge brake.

Yes, that's exactly what I did. It is an older left hand 308 long action. Magnum bolthead. Stockade Pdog stock. I found a 32" Stainless fluted barrel. Sent it to Sinman to chamber and thread for the action and muzzle brake. A $40 Ross Schuler muzzle brake. A Rifle Basix Sav-2 trigger. It has a 20moa EGW base and a Bushnell 6500 4.5-30x50 scope.

What OAL's are ya'll running with the 300's? I've seen the defensive edge loads, which look like for his remington repeaters @ 3.785 (is this too short pd721el?):

I also read about GearGrinder working his action and mag box to make a repeater for up to 3.85 OAL. If you're loading longer than this, what will be lost by restricting your OAL to 3.85? Assuming you cut the chamber for the appropriate jump...

The repeater is on another action I did.

This one is a long action with the short action (308) mag opening. I'm running it single shot.

I using the short OAL 3.785". Even though Sinman's reamer makes that quite a jump. It still shoots great. It goes to show that the SMK is not jump/jam sensitive.

I'm also running on the hot side of the loads. I've run 94g and 95g of H1000 with no pressure signs.

With the brake and the big barrel, it's a dream to shoot.

Everything is for sale...for the right price. ;D

I also like geargrinders rig. There is a pic of mine on the favorite non savage thread. I ll do some measuring when I get home as far as the OAL. I don't have any issues with the 300's running up to 94 gr of H1000 but with other powders it get full. When I use the 250's SMK I could use a little more case capacity. My rifle shoots allot softer then I expected while putting it together, Ill attribute that to the DE brake.
