26", no flutes
26" at a minimum 28 would be better, and I would go at least .8 at the muzzle
I would go 26" ss 1/10 fluted varmint 11 degree with std reamer
I forgot to ask about twist. I was thinking slow like 1:8...Comments???
1/8 would be a fast twist and you can shoot heavy bullets with it, a 1/12 would be a slow twist for light bullets. I would probably go 1/10 for the bullets you want
I'm with the others...at least 26". If you have no plans to shoot the heavy stuff like the 105/107's, at least get enough twist to handle the 95g VLD's.
What do ya plan on doing with it?

I just picked up a box of Berger VLD 95 Grn.
I plan to step down when hunting the infamous Oregon Sagerats (hence the name) Coyotes, cougers and the occosioinal whistle pig. I will use the 95 grrn for Bear, Deer and Antilope sized game. Other than that, I really would like to see if I can poke holes in things at 1,000 yds.
PS: Does Outlawkyote still post on thit site?
Mine is a 1:9 twist Hart 28". It shoots the 105 Bergers VLD and 107 SMK with no problems. However, you are on the right track with the 95 VLDs. That is my favorite bullet in mine. You can run them up to 3450 fps and even higher if you don't mine losing the brass after 3-4 loadings. RE-19 and RE-22 both worked well in mine. Luck, Tim

Where do you find preformed brass? Are you using a magnum primer? I like CCI 250's myself but am open to all the learning I can get.

I fire-form my brass (RP) with the Cream of Wheat method. About 9.5 gr of Unique, fill to base of next with COW, then stuff TP in neck to prevent COW from coming out. Clean really good when your finished. This is a dirty method. If you want to just shoot plain on 6mm Rem ammo just set the bullets into the lands. Several powders work well, IMR4831, RE-19, and RE-22 are among the best. RE-22 is what shined with the 95 VLDs. Mine shoots best with a slight jam, about 0.005" into the lands. Best groups at 46.5 gr of RE-22 which was 3200 fps. At 48.5 (3375 fps) to 49.5 grains (3450 fps) of RE-22, this gun cuts the wind nothing else I have shoot. I have shot many sub-1" 300 yd groups with no wind flags. Below is a 10 shot group at 500 yds shot without wind flags. The shot at the very top center is from the target that was above this one. And, no I can't count 10 holes either but I am confident they are there. Sadly, I haven't had this gun out of the safe since I got my first 6BR.... Luck, Tim
