Hello... I'd like to get a synthetic stock with bedding block for an older 110E long action (30-06) stagger feed with 22" sporter barrel. I'm just plinking from a bench with this gun and the factory stock is shaped for field carry. I'd prefer something with a straight comb. MidwayUSA sells both the basic black Choate and the B&C sporter, both supposedly having bedding blocks. The B&C is three times the price of the Choate. Is it worth the difference? Any other recommendations? :confused:
I have no experience it has the B & C stocks but have several Choate stocks I'm very happy with.
The B&C is a very high quality stock for the money.
Excellent finish and the aluminum bedding block is a great feature.
Midway is very expensive. Look at the site sponsors and you can find it cheaper I'm sure.
Thanks for your helpful comments. I looked at the sponsor's sites, and it appears that the B&C, the one that I'd prefer, is about the same price everywhere. Will have to kick this around a little longer. I'm having a hard time making a decision.
Update: Ordered the Bell and Carlson, OD/Black combination. More later. :smile-new:
B&C stock arrived yesterday and the fit was "drop in" as promised. I think the fit and finish are excellent, and the bedding block makes solid contact with the action. I got a new metal trigger guard and action screws to complete the job. At the range, the consistency improved noticeably over the original wooden stock. It's really nice when things turn out as promised. I highly recommend this as a "stock" solution for old 110 stagger feed actions. :-)

I guess one just wasn't enough, so I got another Bell and Carlson stock for a newly acquired 110 in 223 Remington. I admit it, I'm hooked :o...

A good bedding block system spoils you. Especially one with a full skeleton. Shows us how an action is supposed to seat. Down side, it adds weight. But for everything we gain, something has to be given up. I like My B&C stocks very much. Choate is fine from the bench or prone, also has the full skeleton, and the price is very attractive. When I want to use a barreled action as a carry rifle, I take it out and put it in a 28oz Stevens 200 Tupperware. Best of all worlds :-))
I picked up another old 110 sporter recently. Of course it had to get a B&C stock, my third now. This rifle is the common 270 Winchester, but it's a new cartridge to me. I'm experimenting with a reduced handload for it: Trail Boss poeder/Sierra 130 gr. SPT bullet/Nosler brass. It got its first outing yesterday and an encore performance this morning. Groups are tightening and a big part of it is the solid stock. Thanks Bell and Carlson! :-) Happy Holidays!
