Cratered primer help

I got a new to me 223 barrel and bolt head. I installed them and test fired it and here's result.

I am measuring the firing pin protrusion at .065. Is there any way to shorten it on these firing pins without a file?

I'm measuring the difference of the firing pin hole and the firing pin to be roughly .003-.005. Not sure what it's suppose to be. It's not an exact measurement. With the pin laying on one side of the hole I used the calipers to push it to the other side and measure the difference.

Yes there is a way. Don't even use a file!

I have used that way on the other style of firing pins. This one has doesn't have the spring in the middle or the threads.

What?...you don't have a file? The easiest way is to file the tip flat until you have .035" protrusion, then chuck it in a drill and radius the corner with a stone.

Thanks Fred. I do have a file. I just didn't know if that was the correct way to do it or not. That's what I'll do.
