Success with lighter weight bullets in 30-06

What would the best twist be for a 30-06 barrel to shoot 110 - 150 grain bullets? Not being well learned on barrel design, I have to ask if this is this too broad a range for one twist rate? It would seem to me that the lighter bullet weights could be loaded to produce a broad range of velocities for multiple purposes with less recoil. You could always ramp up the velocity if the desire to "reach out and touch something" got the best of you. I know there are a myriad of other cartridges out there that will provide lower recoil with lighter bullet weights and still produce outstanding ballistics, but I just love my old '06. Thanks for any input you guys may have.

1 in 10 for up to 200 gr. bullet
1 in 12 for up to 150-180 gr. bullets. From my experience.
I would stay with 1 in 10 with the 30-06. That way you have the 1000 yard potential with a heavier bullet that has a good to best ballistic coefficient. You need the bullet to be supersonic at 1000 yards in order to maintain precision. Once the projectile slows into the transonic region, the transonic shockwaves make the path unpredictable.
If you want less recoil, I would suggest a 243 or even a 223. Get both, they are all fun to work with.

Swap your current barrel for a 1-12 twist and keep the old barrel for long range shooting with 165-168 gr. bullets which seem to shoot the most accurately out of a Savage barrel.

110gr Match Target 1:19
135gr Match Target 1:16
155gr Match Target 1:14

and so on. Most of the Palma guys at the club are shooting 1:14
(in case you didn't know, Palma is rifles chambered in .308, shooting
155gr bullets at 800, 900 & 1000 yards over metallic sights).

Have you tried your current barrel ? Years ago I bought an old revelation bolt 30-06 for $100 ( It was a savage 110 produced for western auto ) Anyway I had a bunch of 110 gr rn 30 cal bullets and I loaded up a bunch of them to punch paper with. THat thing would consistantly put 3 shots in your thumb nail at 100yds. One of the best shooting rifles I ever owned.
