Savage rifle stock alternatives.
A buddy has a 112 Savage BVSS (huge laminated super pig weight stock) He wants to put a lighter stock on it. What are his options for a relatively economical lighter wielder stock without having to sand his life away for the bull barrel?
This is the long action by the way. It is the older pre accutrigger with blind magazine.
Re: Savage rifle stock alternatives.
He could sell that stock here in the classifieds for $125 or so(depending on condition), and go buy a new B&C Duramax synthetic for the same price or less from Shooters Discount or Stocky's.
The Duramax comes in many different colors and camo's, is lighter than what he's got, and it has a barrel channel for a varmint contour barrel.
Re: Savage rifle stock alternatives.
Thank you! Is there a classified section here? Only one I see is the vendors.

You have to be a membr to acces the classified section. $12 a year.

Is there a particular model stock he needs to buy since this is a pre-accutrigger rifle??????
I know there is a difference in stocks between older and newer correct?

Not on the long actions. The distance between the action screws is the same (5 inches).
Measure to make sure.
His might be a "J" action.
