A Hamburger from Germany with two 12ers
Hello everybody,
I am a 49 years old Savage-shooter from Hamburg / Germany. I´m into shooting for more then 20 years, and got 2 savage rifles: A 12 LRPV in .223 Rem and 12 Benchrest in 308.
The 223 I do have now for about 2 years, and I am - more or less - happy with it; I am still looking for the "perfekt" ammo...
Up to now I do use Hornady match BTHP in 52 grains or the S&B 52 grain, with the Sierra-Match-King Hollow-Point-Boat-Tail bullet.
Both of that ammos did not bring the results I expected. On good days (and a good package) , I shoot groups below 0,8 inches on 100 yards, on not-that-good-days, the groups spread up to 2 inches on 100 yards... I am still not sure, if I do something wrong with the choice of ammo...
Any ideas what I can make better, to minimize the groups....?????
The 308 I do have for about half a year, and I am also "half-happy" with it. To eliminate problems with the stock, I´d let a gun smith made a pillar beddig on this rife some months ago. A week ago I think, I maybe found a good working ammo for this rifle: The Hornady A-Max in 168 grain. I shot from distance of 330 yard 2 groups of 3,15 inches. I hope, I will get better with that rifle, I shoot groups below 2 Inches on that distance...
Any Ideas that could help with that..??
Up to now, I only can buy ammo in the shop, because I don´t have the permission to produce / build own Ammo. Therfore I need to make a special and official authorized course, that last 3 days, and cost about 300 bucks...
I hope to find here some helpful informations and tips, to improve my shooting with my savages.
