Hi all not new to shooting or rifles, but I am new to Savage rifles. I am here because I want to build a 6.5 Creedmoor and all my research has led me to using a Savage for being the easiest most economical way to accomplish this new build.

Welcome.
Live in New Mexico but spent the past two winters on Fripp Island. Love that part of South Carolina.
Just finished a Creedmoor on a Savage. If you want to get the best from the Creedmoor, go with a 26" barrel. If you are building a rifle just for hunting 22" is fine.
Welcome to the site
You will enjoy the Creedmoor.
Where in SC are you?
Welcome from the Low Country.

I grew up on Lake Marion near Santee. That is a good little drive to that for you. If you ever want to shoot farther you can drive out this way.
Beautiful place. Stayed a winter at Edisto once. Took my rifles figuring I would shoot all winter. NOT! Had to drive all the way up to Francis Marion, about 70 miles, to shoot at a Forest Service range.Quote:
I live on James Island just outside of Charleston.
