Need help identifying this model (pics)

I ended up getting this 50AE Savage in a trade the other day and I know ZERO about Savage rifles.
At first I thought it was a Model 12 LRPV Right port, but the pics I see on GunBroker show those rifles have small ejection ports and are not wide open on top like this one.
Also, the bolt body appears to have two heads on it. What's up with that? It doesn't look factory.

The part that sits right behind the bolt head is what's known as the front baffle, it helps to divert any stray gases away from the shooter. Entering your serial number into the Savage Parts Finder at www.savagearms.com should give you model info. If it's a dual port that was modified after the factory, Fred at SSS may be able to add more info - that's one of the modifications that he does.

Thanks for the info. I put the S/N in the Savage parts finder and it pulled up 12BVSS-S 220, but the schematic shows that action to have an open bottom with a magazine. The action on this gun is a solid bottom single shot with two action screws. It looks like the Varmint single shots have an extra action screw right in the middle of the action.

Upon closer inspection, I think you're right about the ejection port being modified to the open top profile. It doesn't look factory.

Parts diagrams are never 100% accurate as they often use the same image for multiple similar models (i.e. single shots and repeaters alike as is the case here).

What you have is basically a cobbler's rifle, meaning it's something someone threw together. I could tell the barrel wasn't factory right off by just looking at it, and once I started reading your original post that was confirmed as Savage has never made any guns in 50AE. The bolt head appears to be originally from a FP model with it's blackened finish, but it's obviously been modified to accept the 50AE case head. The stock is your standard OEM issue tupperware in place of the nice laminate stock that would have came on the gun originally. Rounded rear bridge on the action and the AccuTrigger tell me the action is 2003 or newer. As short round noted above, the action appears to be unmolested as the 12BVSS's used a standard sporter/varmint type action, not the small port Target-style action like the 12LRPV and Target models have.

Looks like a bolt knob is possibly off an earlier model possibly the rear baffle too. Most of the newer model I find have the undercut around the cocking ramp also.
