Quick question how I can recognize a parallel recoil lug from a tapered one? Any pics?
Measure it several places with a dial caliper. Most aftermarket lugs will use a screw or pin to index with the action whereas the factory lugs have a raised square punched from the back side to index. Factory lugs can be ground flat with a surface grinder though.
A parallel lug has parallel sides, like a Remington. A tapered lug has tapered sides, like a Savage.

I have a stainless Savage 116 large shank which one below is the correct lug for it? Number 2?

Buster, your barrel more than likely measures 1.115 or something close. #2 will not work. I believe #1 is for use after using PT&G's action blueprinting reamer and tap. So it is out. You need one for the large shank and it should measure close to 1.125. Go here and check this out... I think you will like it.
