Re: Well I bedded my action.
If you haven't already, watch the little film clip at the bottom of this article:

I took my newly bedded stock off using his method, and it really works slick,
providing there are no mechanical locks.
Re: Well I bedded my action.
Looks easy enough, I sure will give it a try. Thank You
Re: Well I bedded my action.
On another board I told someone to do exactly what you did, just a few days back. Congrats!!

You apparently didn't read the post that says if you post that you bed your action before breaking it free, than you'll end up with a mechanical lock.
It's just a mojo versus juju thing.
Might as well go to bed.
Re: Well I bedded my action.
I have bedded many actions and still say a silent little prayer before attempting to break one lose.
Had one that took a couple of drops of Holy Water (Budwieser) and BF hammer to come loose.
Re: Well I bedded my action.
Got up today and the action popped loose with only 1 tap. I held the rifle by the barrel at about 45 degrees and tapped the stock on the carpted floor and she came right apart. The bedding job turned out incredable, far better than I ever expected for my first 1. I reinstalled my trigger, it took a few tries but finaly went together, I will post some pics later today. For anyone who has not done this yet give it a try, follow the instructions given on this site, do some research and things will work out just fine. Now if we wasn't going to get 20" of snow I would be at the range, this gun shot about 3/4" groups before and I hope this helps out. I was always getting that 1 flyer that took my groups from about 3/8s to 3/4. Do you think this will help that problem?

50/50
Is there a few thousandths relief between tang and receiver?
If the bedding is all OK, and it doesn't help with the fliers, a Forster die will. :)

Yes I floated the tang and I can slide a sheet of notebook paper between it and the stock. Before I started this project the tang was rubbing the stock. Thaanks for the advice
Re: Well I bedded my action.
Very well done! It looks great :)
Re: Well I bedded my action.
Awesome job for the first one. Having it be a single shot makes it a bit easier too. Congrats.
