A few questions about the 10-BAS

I decided to buy one of these today and I have been doing my homework.

I have 2 questions I can't seem to find answers to.

What is up with the butt stock. it looks like and after thought. Has anyone mounted a better stock that looks like it was made for the gun?

What's up with the side rails on a sniper platform? What accessory could you mount on one of these that would be of use?

made to accept AR stocks, pick one you like

it was not built to be a hunting rifle.
