I'm looking into re-barreling my 25-06 (for several reasons), and am looking at the 6.5 Creedmoor, or the 6.5-284. My Question is about the feeding of the rounds through the internal mag. I may replace the stock as well with this rebuild, if funds allow that luxury. I am working with a Stevens 200 long action. I don't think it would be an issue with the bolt face, but I welcome any input you might have on this conversion.

Since you're building on an LA I see no reason not to go with the 6.5-284.
The Creedmoor is optimized for SA's and the 6.5-284 in the LA mag will allow you to seat the very long, heavy for caliber 6.5mm bullets way out there.
Why not go with the old 6.5-06. Already got all the brass you need, just neck up the 25-06 stuff and you know its going to feed relaibly. The 6.5-06 is the ballistic twin of the 6.5-284 while being just a touch more efficient. I just built one for a friend of mine with a sporter contour Shaw barrel and its running 48.5 grains of H4350 pushing a 140 grain Berger at 2950 fps into 1" groups at 200 yards.
I should have included the 6.5-06 in the chamberings I was looking at! :) My concern with the 6.5-06 is that we have another 25-06 rifle, used by other family members when we hunt, and I was concerned about my wife and/or kids getting ammo mixed up. It "shouldn't" chamber, but they really aren't that far off. Do you think A 6.5-06 could close on a 25-06 chamber?

Converted a 30-06 110 Savage to 6.5-284 and it feed through the stagered internal mag just fine. The Axis will also convert from 25-06 to 6.5-284 and feed from the clip with just a little adjustment.
Good idea to use a different case. It can be easy to mix them up.....I used to use a 6-284 and a 6.5-284 for long range prairie dogs. I shot MKs in the 6 and Amaxes in the 6.5 so you would think it wouldnt be hard to keep them seperated. Luckily the only mix up I had was a 6 going into the 6.5, the other way around and it could have gotten real interesting!!!!!
I converted my Savage LA hunting rifle from factory 30-06 to 6.5x284 with a CBI light varmint barrel. No problems with feeding or ejection. Very accurate and a pleasure to shoot. Impressive down-range ballistics and energy with RL-17 and Berger 140 gr VLD's.
Well you could always neck down 30-06 or 270 cases to the 6.5 that way they have different head stamps. Honestly though the 6.5 loaded with a 140 Berger looks nothing like a 25-06. That long skinny bullet sticking out there looks quite a bit different.

Another way to help tell the difference would be to use nickel plated brass for one caliber and regular brass for the other.
