I have one in .223. I bought it when they first hit the market and other calibers weren't readily available. With a Vortex Scout 2-7x it's pretty accurate but man it is loud, but it's a 10" .223 so it's expected. I love the pistol, but I am going to rebarrel it to 6.5 Creedmoor. I picked up a large shank rifle barrel off the forum here that I'm going to have cut back to 14" and threaded. The only magazine I have used in mine is the factory one, but I have used an AICS single shot sled and it worked great.
Are the actions on those things large shank?
Yes they are large shank.
Have one is 308, bought a Pmag, 5 round for it. Seems to work for me. Did have to send gun back to Savage, think they polished
feed ramp and chamber. Had feeding problems and cases were scratched badly when cycled thru gun. Now feeds well and no
scratches.
If I were going to try a different magazine in 223/300BLK my first try would be a Magpul AICS 223. Midway USA has them for $38.
Once I switch my barrel/bolt over to 6.5, I've got several Magpul and Bergara AICS mags to use. I really like the looks of the smaller 3rd and 5rd mags, I think it just looks better for a hunting/long range pistol than the longer mags do.
For 300 BO, there is allot of empty space in front of the round that I have had a round nose dive into the magazine while chambering.
Yes, my .223 mag is the same way. That's the nature of the beast with AICS, as the format was designed for the larger 308 family of cartridges. The 223 family is just shorter overall length. I've never really noticed a nose dive, but the few times I used it I chambered very slowly, nothing fast. I have mostly used the AICS single shot sled with mine.
I would be a Magpul 223/300 AICS would fix that problem, they don't seem to release junk mags to the market like other aftermarket makers.
Just got back from the range testing out Hornady 190 subs at 100 yards using my sandman-s can. This PCS is very accurate with this round. Glad I bought the PCS.
Since these use left handed actions/bolts , MAYBE ??? , Savage will start offering left handed bolt heads to those left handed 110 actions owners that want to add a different chambering ?
While the 110 PCS pistol uses a left hand bolt, it does right hand eject therefore uses right hand bolt heads...
Thank you, I should have known just another way to screw left handed Savage shooters.
Any new PCS owners? Santa bring you one?
