Mine does well for the price. Not as good as my Brux but i would say on par with other button barrels. All i have is Brux in Grendal to compare it to but expected accuracy and cleaning is like my McGowen barrels.
That's good to here earl. I have a 260Rem ER Shaw that is top notch, but I ordered it from the factory. I'm curious to see if barrels produced in a run are equally good. The price is right, and no long wait, so I think I will push the button on the order. The 6.5mmGrendel sounds just right for my next build.
Thanks.......Jim ;-))
Well did you push the buy button?
if so how does she shoot?
Yes, I got the Grendel barrel from Gunshack. It looks good, and when I put a case in the chamber, it is a snug fit, and the chamber looks well machined from what I can see. It appears that I got the last 6.5 Grendel barrel Gunshack had in stock. Must of had my name on it.
I got Dies, Cases, 100 & 120 grn Nos BT's, and along with other 6.5 pills I have for my 260 Rem, I am set to proceed. Oh, and I also got the 7.62x39 bolt head and bolt head parts kit.
But, alas, I can't install the barrel until October when I go to Virginia. It will be a long wait :-((
Thanks........Jim
As I said above, I got the 7.62x39 bolt head from Gunshack for this build, and I assume it is a Savage item. I assume that the bolt parts kit that I got is also Savage.
This build will be on an action with a .473" bolt face. I have read were the .473" bolt face can work with the Grendel, but "we might want to change the ejector"? Change it to what?
If I use the 7.62x39 bolt head, will the ejector in the kit work for the Grendel?
Thanks for any help with this :-)).........Jim
Jim it is talking about the extractor not the ejector. To use the 473 bolt face and get good extraction you change to the 223 extractor because it is a little longer but since you have the correct bolt head just use the parts kit and you are good to go. Change the bolt head, check firing pin protrusion and you will need a 7.62x39 mag and follower if you plan to run this as a repeater.
Thanks earl ! :-))
I just was able to order 200 Hornady 6.5mm, 123grn, Amax's from Midway! :-))
Getum while you can guys.....Jim
