I just bought a new 308 axis. Put a Leopold 3x9x40 scope on it. Was thinking about buying a new barrel for it. Should I do that. Even though its a new gun. I will be hunting deer and pig with it. Thanks

If it were me, I'd use it the way it is. It sounds like the perfect fit for what you are doing with it.
Thanks. I just been seeing people talk about changing barrels. I'm new to hunting so want to do this right.
Absolutely nothing wrong with Savage barrels. Take it out and shoot it, I think you'll be impressed.
I have 3 Savage rifles all with Savage barells and like RP12 said you'll be impressed! Best out of the box guns I have.
I had an axis sr in .308 shot consistanly 1 moa with cheap wolf ammo. Best group of .45" at 100
Good hunting gun.
Good barrel.
Good choice for deer and pigs.
.308's shoot forever.
People on here are always talking about swapping barrels and going to aftermarket triggers, stocks and barrels b/c this is where people go to talk about their INSANE hobby of switching out triggers, stocks and barrels.
It's fun, but pretty much totally unnecessary for realistic, everyday, general hunting applications.
Be careful, though, because if you hang around here long, you will likely start feeling the same urge. :)
you have a good barrel, so if your happy with the caliber (and why not, .308 is great) there is no reason to change the barrel in your case.
Good ammo and lots of practice goes a long way to build confidence.Once you find a load it likes shoot a lot so it becomes second nature.
They are coming to take me away ha ha he he ho ho, I buy them just to switch barrels !
Sounds good guys thanks
