What is the recommended clearance between the bolt head and the barrel?
.015 - .020 +/-. But this is after you headspace with a gauge. Do not set headspace from those dimensions. The better question is how much case protrusion should/do you have, and how deep is your bolt face counterbore? The protrusion on a standard case is .130 +/- and the boltface is .110- .115
I just measured sized brass (I know it's not a actual guage) and got .0125 on a couple different barrels and brass. I measured the depth of 2 bolt heads to be .0115. that give .0010 clearance. Just looking for the "recommended" clearance before I have my barrel chambered.
You added a zero. .115 for the bolt face depth and .125 for protrusion of the case. That sounds right. I originally put .010 to .015 clearance but started second guessing. It had been a while since I checked one. Sounds like you have the right data.
As I was just looking over my measurements you are right I added an extra 0 to that lol.
