Re: vibratory cleaning media
Medium corn cob
The additive I use - Nu Finish car polish (no amonia)
Have been using this combination for five years now.
Re: vibratory cleaning media
cob shines best.
walnut cleans best. ( but if there that dirty.....)
Lyman red has a powder on it that get left behind on the brass for you to wipe off after they are clean. ( not my idea of clean and ready to use.)
Re: vibratory cleaning media
Walnut is all I have ever used, cheaper ($18) by the 50 lb sack at my local feed store also.
When its really dirty it can be washed dried out & reused as its like new. Ive been using the same stuff for 25 yrs. this way. Brass is nice & shiney also. I tried corncob, didnt like it, drop a bit of nu finnish in the walnut and I think it comes out even better. I have 3 tumblers for different uses.

Re: vibratory cleaning media
what about mixing corn cob and walnut together? just a thought, why not?
Re: vibratory cleaning media
you can also get walnut from the pets store, it's lizard bedding :).
not as economical as the feedstore one mentioned, but a couple bugs for a medium sized bag wasn't bad... still haven't used it all.
Re: vibratory cleaning media
For an additive I have been trying the Iosso case cleaner and it works really good. Shines my Lapua br brass to a mirror finish
Re: vibratory cleaning media
I really like my green corncob. I tried the pet store lizzard bedding walnut shells. It cleaned ok, but not like the green corncob. Also after just a couple uses, the walnut shells got super dusty and messy. I just threw it out and went back to the green corncob.
