I know I am missing something.
You might put something in the Want To Buy ads or view the Classifieds. I think there was one over there.
no this is not a WTB add Im just not sure of the shank size the serial # starts a F if that helps
Everyone I've ever seen is a small shank
Not to start a discussion or argument, but what's wrong with the fp barrel. I've owned 4 fp's (none in 308), I've had vlp's, lrp's and fp's and pretty much everything savage has to offer and for some odd reason those fp's would just plain shoot.
Ohh its a shooter just thinking of trying another caliber
This is from McGowens site :
There are several ways to identify your current Savage shank. Target actions use the large nut and will have the word "Target" on the action. There are also 3 screws in the receiver for a target shank. The barrel nut on the large shank is shorter in length than the nut used on a standard shank. Savage Thread Specs:
Target Savage - 1.115-20 TPI (1.400 Long +/- .020)
Standard Savage - 1.060-20 TPI (1.600 Long +/- .020)
Large Savage - 1.115-20 TPI (1.500 Long +/- .020)
It's a standard (small) shank.
I don't know what Savage has done, but I received a "Target" Action 3 months ago and their is not one word or mark stamped on the Action. My older ones are loaded with info. (?)Quote:
