I want to put a sling on my Savage Arms .22 bolt action rifle. Any idea how I can go about doing that or what kind of sling I should get?

You'll laugh, but the cheapest / easiest is this: Go to a surplus store, buy a USGI rifle sling (the old OD green ones), and zip-tie that sucker onto the sling studs. That's what we did overseas with our SAWs and it worked like a charm.
The more preferred method is to install some sling swivels (Uncle Mikes, etc) and get a proper sling. The USGI sling will work with these too.
Here's the swivels: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/705...vc=subv1156955
I like the Claw. It's sticky feeling and grips well when hiking in the mountains. It's durable even when wet.
I make my slings out of paracord (3 so far) Look in off topic if you want to see pics of a couple of them. Easy, inexpensive, much more flexible than most, confy and strong. Pic paracord to match the color of the rifle. I use Uncle Mikes swivels too, order or buy local.
type of sling is a personal thing unless it is to be used for shooting.
that would narrow the choices. location of the swivel studs is in my opinion
very important. i always install my rear stud near the pistol grip so it dosent
interfere with the rear bag when shooting from a bench. that way the bag can be slid
foward or back without interference.
