Thinking about getting this scope for next year. What can you guys tell me about. (FTR shooter) Thanks, Luckus
I have 2 of said scope with the target dot . One is on my Savage F class 6.5x284 and one on a Custom 300 WSM heavy gun . I shoot 1000 yd matchs at Hawks Ridge Gun Club. I like the power they have . The only little fuss I have is the side focus knob could be a little larger. Very fine movement when at highest magnification . The scopes have allowed me to shoot my Factory Savage F class in the 4 inch range and shoot a score of 99 with 5 x's in a 10 shot match with heavy gun. Last match was the first time out with the HG . Hope this helps. When the funds come around to build a light gun it will have a Sightron just like the others. I think I might try just a fine x-hair too.
I've been using this scope with mildot reticule this year for F-open and it has performed very well. Typically I like Leupold on my target rifles and I would say that the 10-50x60 SIII is on par with all the Leupolds in my safe. Don't expect to be able to crank it up to 50x every day though. When there is a lot of humidity and mirage in the air then it'll really show up at that high of power.
Thanks for the input. I realize you can't use 50X all the time, but I can see the need for more than 36X at times. Maybe Santa will be good to me this year. Luckus
Just keep in mind good glass is more important than magnification. More so the greater distance you shoot. I've seen folk with 36x that couldn't see much smaller than a 10"x17" plate @ 1000yds and a NF at 15x or similar USO had no difficulty aquiring 5."
I'm considering this scope as well- will be interested to hear more replies/reviews from those that are shooting them.
best prices i have found for sightron scopes
are at bigsupplyshop.com.

Sightron 10x50 owners, can you see bullet holes on the 300 yard target with this scope?
drybean, what caliber?
I have 2 of these scopes with the dot reticle. There have been times that I can't see my 30 caliber holes at 300yds, when a other guy with a Nightforce could. I have been able to see them at 400yds in good conditions.

I was looking thru a buddies Sightron 8x32 on Sunday and it has better resoultion than my T36 by far. I was looking at the 1K target and it was much better. Thanks for the replies. Luckus
Had a chance to look through a couple of SIIIs today. 2 were 10-50x60, one was an 8-32x50. The optics were amazing- not head and shoulders above Nightforce but definitely crisper.
I have never looked through a nightforce, but can say you will be very pleased with a sightron s111
My mentor has a March scope and just bought a Sightron 10-50X60. He has his March for sale! He seriously shoots F TR.
Note, don't compare what your buddy sees against what you see! He may have better eye sight than you!
does anyone know what reticle most F class shooters are using these days?
I have the Sightron SlllSS 10-50X60LRMD/CM. It has the large Tactical Knobs and is a MRAD Scope with the Mil-Dot Reticle. I am extremely happy with the scope and really like the large adjustment knobs instead of the smaller benchrest knobs. When I bought mine only the MRAD Tactical Scopes came with the large knobs. I usually only shoot at 600 yds where one click of adjustment is just about one inch or half way between a 1/8 MOA and a 1/4 MOA scope. I usually shoot it at 45 to 50 power unless it is low light or a lot of mirage and then use 35 to 40 power. I have shot some really good groups with it and if I ever buy another scope it will be a Sightron.
good to know. Read alot of positives and with about 3 weeks research online finally pulled the trigger and got the SIII 8-32x LRTD with 1/8 MOA adjustments.
snakepit- how does the mil-dot reticle do for benchrest shooting, say f-class? I've heard that the mil-dot is a little thick for fine work.
Mattri, I have two Savage Long Range Rifles, a F/TR .308 and a F Class 6mm BR both using the Sightron lll 10-50x60 with the mil-dot reticle and I have no problem at all with them for long range shooting. I spend a majority of my time benchrest shooting at 600 yds (getting to old to be on the ground shooting). They do have thicker mil-dot lines but it has been no problem and in fact it has been an advantage with my old eyes. My shooting partner has a Nightforce long range scope with the fine mil-dot reticle and I have fired it several times and like my thicker lines better. He often has to use his illuminator to use his in low light/cloudy days. My rifle & scope combination has done great and holds the Club 600 yd record. Sorry about the late 5 month response.
I will confirm Dean's findings. I can see 6.5mm hits @ 300 - Sightron SIII 10-50x 60mm LRTD-TD. I have 2x of these and one SIII 8-32x - 56mm LRTD-TD. Excellent Scopes. I was a Leupy fan for "best" scope, but the Sightrons have converted me. Fantastic glass...
I ordered a Sightron 10-50 fch 2 days ago, but of course it's on back order. What height Weaver rings do I need to get this on a 12 FTR with 20 moa base? Luckus
