The Doctor Is In
Upgrading my 10/22 to the unlimited class in ABRA benchrest and ran into a snag last night that required a little surgery. The Bushnell Rimfire Optic scope I'm currently using (6-18x40mm) has a cap/knob sticking out of the bottom of the saddle at a 45* angle on one side that's hitting the connecting bar of my DNZ Game Reaper mount and preventing me from being able to level the crosshairs.
Receiver is level in this photo, but as you can see the scope is noticeably canted to the right due to the cap/knob hitting the mount.

About a half hour of work with the flat files got me the clearance I needed by cutting in a (roughly) 45* bevel on that side of the mount.

A little flat black rattle can bedazzle and if you didn't know better you'd think it came like that from the manufacturer.

I just bought the exact same scope and ran into the exact same problem with the same nub. I ended up finding a set of rings in my spare parts box that were just a hair taller and cleared the base, without being too tall.
