where to find info?

Looking for a good read that explains all the differences between the savage models. Any threads or links that has all the info in one place?
Looking to start a build, thinking of buying a used rifle for the action (to keep the price down) and going from there. Don't want to buy a new rifle and scrap brand new parts. Not sure if worth buying a target action for $500+ if I can buy a used rifle for less than that.
Tips, tricks, advice or criticism welcome.

What are you trying to build? What is your intended purpose? Looking at everything I just recently purchased, I've found it would have been cheaper for me to just pick up a new or slightly used 12 LRP in 6.5CM for what I want to do with it, shoot it out and re-barrel down the road. About the only thing I would do with it is change the stock, but could easily resell it here on the forums.
