It's a lot easier if you have a bullet in particular in mind, or at least a bullet weight range in mind, since 6mm bullets range from 55gr to 115gr.

scope eye, cool name man ! Ok to narrow down some,Hornady v max 87g,Sierra hpbt 95g.and Sierra hpbt 70g.. Powder I have on hand ,hope I can use. Hodgdon 4350, and Varget. I also have some Berger vld 95g,Berger fb varmint 80g also. Thanks again.
Varget and the 87gr V-Max is a great combo. The 10GNS I had in 243 really liked it.
I would try Varget with the 87, 80, and 70gr bullets you list. Varget seemed to treat me well in all the 243 and 243AI's I have loaded for so far. FWIW I have had great luck with RL19 and RL22 with the 100gr bullets in several different rifles, just in case you need a deer load in the future.
Ya what he said "smile"

Thanks
What's your twist rate? My 1-8 loves the 95 gr vlds, most accurate load I own. And 4350 and varget would both work there in the right range of burn rates. Go to IMR or hodgton website
They have good load data
My 26" Mcgowen barrel likes 95 Berger VLD Hunting with Hogdon H100V/40 gr. at 2950 fps.
My 26" 12 twist McGowen is partial to
55gr Noslers & 48gr Varget,
65 Vmax's & 43gr Varget,
75gr HPs & 40gr Varget
87gr Vmax's & 38 Varget
Note: These are all over advertised Max

I believe my LRP .243 is a 1:8.25 24" super heavy fluted brl. Weight is 12`ish
If its a LRP I believe they are all 26". I know mine is!
If its a factory barrel, it should be a 26" (measured from the rear of the chamber to the crown) and a 1:9.25" twist as that is the standard twist for Savage's 243 barrels.
You are correct ,its a 1 : 9.25" twist. And 26" barrel. I just measured from the brl nut sorry. Just got it and am getting started to re-load some ammo. It should shoot as good as my LRP .260. Thanks for the help guys.
Mine is the 87 gr Hornady Vmax, 42.0 grs W760, Fed LRM primers, bullet seated .010" off lands. Prairie dog mist maker out past 500 yards.
I run 87gr V-max with 43.0grs of H-4350 @3200fps out of a 24" barrel.
85gr Sierra HPBT 43.5 IMR4831.
All Winchester brass
55gr BT's with 44.5 grs H4895. cci-200 primer
85gr Sierra HPBT or TSX with 38grs Varget. CCI-200 primer
87grs vmax with 46.0/46.5 grs RL-22. CCI-250 primer
105 amax or VLD with 46.0grs H1000.
Thanks guys for the recipes, I have some jugs of H4350 and Varget.
.243 win brass
95 gr SMK
45.0 gr RL-22
Velocity is around 3100 and sub 1/2 moa accuracy. Good luck finding them 95 SMK's though.
85gr Sierra HPBT 47.2 RL19
WINCHESTER brass one-hole groups
Hey that is my load too, but 5 thousands off the lands
Try a mid load with Varget & the 60gr Sierra HP I'm getting 3400 & a little change with a mid load. It really puts Rock Chucks to sleep & it turns Ground Squirrels into a mist!
I think you'll like it & the accuracy is up there too. I've gotten 3 shot 9/16" on a day I'm shooting well.
For Deer/Antelope I like the Hornaday 100gr Spire point over a top load of IMR4350. Shot a small buck with this load & it punched a silver dollar size exit hole. The buch reared over backwards, got up,(I had another round chambered) staggered 30' & piled up. The second shot wasn't needed. His lungs were in pretty bad shape.
I also like H4831 under this bullet, better still so does my rifle.
Good luck the .243 is a sweet ctg & very useful.
Having H4350 & Varget you've pretty well got the .243 covered from Varmints to Deer/Antelope!:thumb:
