What does mark 2 mean? And what series is the model 434?
The Mark II is a magazine fed bolt action rifle in .22 Long Rifle. It is cousin to the Mark I which is the same basic design but is a single shot. The Model 93 is basically the same thing as the Mark II but chambered in .17HMR and .22WMR.
These are made in Canada by the former Lakefield Arms Company that Savage acquired a few decades ago.
No. These magazines only fit the Mark II's
Was your rifle made in USA or Canada?
Not sure if the mag will fit, but the barrel should be stamped where it was made.
Ok it says USA.
The reasoning is that the entire gun is a different design. Like the difference between a 1966 Mustang and a 2012 Mustang.
Go to Numrich or Brownell's websites and see if they have the parts you need.
Would this magazine work you think? http://www.brownells.com/magazines/r...400567_d_21300

or would that one work better?
Do you have pictures of the gun?
Sorry, the links don't work.
I can't figure out how to add a photo. When I click the icon, it only gives me the option to add an image from url
Ok whatever I can't figure it out. I'll call savage tomorrow and they'll probably be able to get it for me. Thanks for trying though.
You're welcome.
For future reference to post a photo first upload it to a site like image shack or photobucket. They're free hosting sites for stuff like this, then you can copy and paste the URL link needed. Can't post straight from desktop file like you can to Facebook.
Thank you!
Savage isn't going to be able to help you as it was made prior to 1995 - before the current ownership took over, and they don't support any models made prior to that.
The fact is - it's an older model (late 60's/early 70/s) and finding parts for it is going to be difficult. A quick Google search netted me this: the 434 is basically the no-frills/plain stocked version of the Model 34 and 65 so that first magazine you linked to at Brownells should work.
