Superformance powder & .243 WIN 100/105 gr bullets?
Anybody tried it?
I may have a book with data at home, will look tonight.
Superformance doesn't act like a "regular" powder. It is a very progressive burner, and the curve changes significantly with operating pressure.
I'll let you know if I can come up with something tonight.
Thanks. Appreciate it. The heaviest bullet Hodgdon lists for this powder is 80 grs. My Hornady manual is old and doesn't list Superformance at all, don't know about the latest version.
What "Hodgdon doesn't know" could fill a great many books....
Sorry newest Hornady doesn't have it, they are a good resource....
If you can catch Emary, he may well be able to help you. He was a main powder monkey at General Dynamics before coming to Hornady. So understanding powders he built really shouldn't be a surprise.
I have had some good accuracy with it but is a very dirty powder, like an ash in the barrel. Used in 243AI and 6mmAI. The Hornady 9th edition lists 39.7-44.4 grains w/Fed 210 primer.
The Hornady 9th edition lists 39.7-44.4 grains w/Fed 210 primer
Is that for a 100 gr bullet?
Thats for 95-100 gr bullets.
Isn't the .243 known for random pressure spikes anyway? Specifically based on seating depth? I'd stay away from SP for that reason alone...
I guess I don't see any reason to use anything other than H4350 since I've had such good luck with mine :p
New Barnes manual lists 41 Min / 45.5 Max for 105 gr bullet. It seems we might start getting more info on this powder.
My son and I have worked with it a lot, we have never seen anything superformance about it !!! :o
I load 100gr sierra gamekings in front of 42gr (I think) of IMR 4350 and shoot sub MOA with my Savage 243 from a bench. It works well on deer and hogs here.
Oops sorry I didn't realize you were asking about a specific powder.
That's for their Match Burner bullets which I think are regular HPBT match.
