This week's project
Tac knobs. Been too cheap to buy one and I don't like any of the knob profiles available so I did my own. Left is a mid-late 50's 110 the other is a model 12. The handle on the 110 I had to anneal with a propane torch and some kitty litter (new of course). Worked pretty well. Before I annealed it, a hacksaw wouldn't even touch it. After it was just fine. Still a little hard machine, but not terrible. The one on the 12 was a lot easier to get done. Over all its a big improvement. The 110 was a pain to move as it wouldn't clear the scope. Now it clears just fine. Knobs were made with some scrap 1.25" 6061 bar I had laying around. Lots of hand work on these to make them look good and I think they do. Just need to get them Cerakoted along with the actions and barrels and I will be in business.

Thanks. Not bad for doing it all on a manual lathe and then running the CNC in manual for the couple milling operations.
