Re: FM10 300WSM Experiences
Tim - are you hunting RhinocerosasaurusREX?
Thought about a 243, 260, or 308?
I would worry about catching the foliage on fire with a short barrel WSM anything. :)
Re: FM10 300WSM Experiences
I dont own one, but it sounds like it would be a nice hunting rig.
I am getting 2500 fps out of my 308 with a 19" barrel and 208 gr amaxes over RL17 and with a
300 WSM with a 20" barrel you should be able to get at least 200-250 FPS more.
That bullet at 2700 fps will carry 1000 FPE out to 1000 yards.

Little old Oklahoma Whitetails but I see an Elk hunt in the future with my boys. I own 4... no 5 308s and a more than a dozen more barrels in other calibers. I can pick up this rifle for a song and it is a just something different. If it was a 308 I would already own it. I need a lighter weight hunting rifle for when my kids get older. Now I am setting in a stand with them and I only carry a 44 Redhawk in case we run into pigs.

Re: FM10 300WSM Experiences
you should get at least a 24" barrel i have a 26" 300 wsm and it shoots fireballs a 20" you will have all the recoil without the velocity or kenetic energy an extra 4" of barrel wont add much weight and it will improve the ballistics
Re: FM10 300WSM Experiences
I just ran a 208 gr amax over RL17 load through quickload and it shows 100% of the powder being burned
with a 20" barrel. You can always change barrels later.
My best flame thrower to date was the 460V with a 4" barrel.
