Vortex Crossfire scope and reoil ?
I have been eyeing the vortex scopes, and the viper line is out of my budget for a while :(
I figured i would get a crossfire (6-24x50 specifically), people seem to generally have high praise for them, but i have seen some remarks they are not for high recoil rifles ?
This would be going on a 308, I would like to get the 30MM tube, but due to needy little ankle biters, may end up with a 1" tube for now.
Should i be concerned with crossfire scopes rattling loose ? I generally load to the mid range loads, currently I am workikng on a 168gr load with varget.
Thanks
Re: Vortex Crossfire scope and reoil ?
I've heard of a few problems with the Crossfire's, but with Vortex's warranty, I wouldn't worry about it.
The 1" is half the price of the 30mm.

That will be a great test to see if it will hold up.
Hopefully it won't be a test of Vortex's VIP warranty. ;D
Re: Vortex Crossfire scope and reoil ?
I have a Crossfire on a 338-06 and it has had about 500 rounds go off under it and I have seen no problems with it yet. I have had one just like you are looking at on a 270 wsm and it had about 250 rounds under it and I never had problems with it. The only reason it is still not on there is because I decided to spend a little more money on some better glass for the long range low-light shots.

The Vortex Viper 6.5-20x44 is on sale right now for 249.99 and is about as good a deal as your going to get on a scope of that caliber.
