New (First) Build - 6mm BRX
Well, here it is. My first true "build" project. A 6mm BRX (PacNor Barrel - 28 inch, 1-8 twist) on a basic Savage action. The action was bedded to the T6061 rail and attached to the Corian Stock (Lava Concrete - yes, it's counter top material). Fire forming starts Monday. Total weight? 21.5 lbs with the Bipod. Should be an interesting F Class rig. Range Results to follow.

Re: New (First) Build - 6mm BRX
Awesome. More details on the Corian stock, please.
Re: New (First) Build - 6mm BRX
Thanks!
The stock design was from a "Benchrest" buddy that previously made them from wood. I turn wood bowls and pens and currently supply the US Army with a pen made from Corian. It matches the digital uniform.
Anyway, I obtained an interesting sheet from Dupont and milled it (trigger / action area) at the same time we milled out the T6061 rail. The material was then sanded out to 0000 Steel wool and polished. Hard as rock! If a scratch develops, simply hit it with steel wool and call it a day. I've done 5 of these stocks already.... many for Benchrest folks. I've finally worked in some time for mine. Fun stuff..... Very different..... a real "head turner".
Re: New (First) Build - 6mm BRX - Range time
Ok - Fire-forming was completed this morning. I wasn't feeling too warm and fuzzy about things, so I used 28.0 grains of H4895 and a 100 grain Rem Corelokt bullet. Brass was Lapua and primers were Rem 7.5's. No issues at all. By the 5th shot, I was drilling a 12 inch square plate at 550 yards. The bullets were not consistant so the grouping on the plate was all over.
Shell forming - perfectly formed shoulder with no signs of pressure
Recoil - WHAT A JOKE!!!!! 21.5 lbs - it was like a 22 Mag
I'll get some pics up of the shell's after I get things cleaned up.

Lucy123 - Thanks...... it's great to bring some "art" into this field...... With the Corian, color combos are endless.
Re: New (First) Build - 6mm BRX
That is a beautiful rig. Very impressive. I want to coin it the " Rock Stock". You did a great job on it. :) ::)
Re: New (First) Build - 6mm BRX
What is the cost to have one of these made?
Re: New (First) Build - 6mm BRX
For the respect of the Forum, I do not intend to turn this into an ad. Just a chance for others see a different style of stock. If you couldn't tell, I like being different.
The style of stock was designed to help me with my shooting due to previous surgeries on my right arm and shoulders (5 total). 20 years of Service in the US Army trying to keep up with the young troops caught up too me. It was a great ride.
GACop - it all depends on how it's spec'd. The basic model with your action, barrel and scope is $500 (+shipping). The stock is your choice of material.... wood, corian, etc. The Bipod is from Sinclair Int. The 5 I've built were Remington, Howa, BAT and Savage (2). If you want, PM me and I'll give you more details. Keep in mind, it's a piece of artwork..... there is only one! They can't be copied because they are made.... one at a time.
New Build - 6mm BRX Range Results
Ok.... the development and results are over! It's a shooter!!!!!!!!!!!!! F Class Open here I come. I think I'll keep this one....

I actually thought the same thing!!!!!! ??? Until I looked at the new backing on the target stand, then I stood there and laughed for about 5 minutes. :o :o
Re: New (First) Build - 6mm BRX
What scope are you using?
Re: New (First) Build - 6mm BRX
Millett 6-25 x56 Fine Cross Hair. I picked up 4 for $189 each. Built like a tank and work great.
