A NBT is more than likely gonna ruin the pelt, but if youre not worried about that then Id say go for it.
308 may be a bit big for yotes though, but the knockdown power would be awesome. Course i cant talk cause I have used mine on prarie dogs with 165NBT's.....LOL
I'd recomend light varmint fragmenting bullets. They would have a better chance to bust up when they hit the ground. Heavy big game bullets will as often as not ricochet quite bad. I've seen them hit a mile away on the first bounce when spotting. Couple friends of mine used 308 with light bullets on prairie dogs. They went out to ¼ mile just fine and would take a big chunk of dirt from the top of a dog mound.
Here's a coyote my son shot with my .308 Savage 10FP using Nosler 125 grain Ballistic Tips.
WOW, ever tried 180 NBT's in your 308? Just wondering . . . I loaded up a few for boar hunting! Looks like the 180's might put the boar down.
Use the 125's and speer 180 's btsp backwards at sub vel. in a 300 whisper for yotes. 125 - You definately will not be selling the pelts, but seeing the hole gives you a very warm fuzzy feeling about saving a few fawns this year. (180 will get the job done with little damage but extreme penetration ) Heres hoping you never miss. The wildlife is depending on you!
