Savage Model 99 made in 1926-27 will soon be mine, information on it requested.
I have made several down payments on a Savage Model 99 rifle made in the Roaring 20's. This rifle is either a 99 B or F, and it is a takedown, with a removable barrel. The rifle is approximately $425.00, but the barrel and receiver are tight, the finish is worn but the rifle is serviceable. The forend and buttstock have some finish wear, but the wood is in good shape for an 86 year old rifle. The caliber is .303 Savage. Yes, I know many decided that the .303 Savage is the least desirable caliber for a Savage Model 99, but as an experienced reloader, I feel confident I can load proper cartridges to original specifications, pressures and velocities. Bullets can be any bullet suitable for the .30-30, or any other .308 caliber bullet from 100 to 190 grains, a distinct advantage of the .303 Savage over the .30 WCF.
The rifle has an unusual front sight ramp, which is dovetailed on the top for the front sight blade, an affectation it seems, but that is what the rifle comes with. All comments and other information about this rifle are welcome. Serial Number 2942XX.
