I have 116 with a nice stainless steel barrel that has spooked some animals.
What is a recommended solution?
I was considering camo dipping or Ceracoat.
How would Ceracoat effect the barrel nut/switch barrel aspects.
Thanks

humans pick up on color
unatural movement or unatural sound of movement is what spooks game
but if your worried about color
Krylon works great
easy on
easy off
if you change your mind
or color scheme
Raw stainless has shine to it. That glint will spook game.
If you get the Ceracoat done, have it done on a disassembled rifle. At that point it will have no effect on the modularity.
Have it bead ,or sand blasted ,
Save some money and buy a $5 roll of no-mar camo tape. Wrap the barrel and go hunt at the end of the season unwrap, wipe it down and take a shiny barrel to the range.
cerakote will not affect most threads so you *should* be ok. I think it goes on at 0.0004" thick or something like that. That said, you could just coat the gun complete and not worry about it. Some flat krylon is pretty cheap, and all you need is some brake clean to take it back off if you ever wanted to.
Bigfish, If you are a d it yourselfer there are some good coatings out there. Duracoat is good if you have 3 weeks for the cure. Never done the ceracoat but nothing but good things about that, then there is the bake on gunkoat that I am starting to like. Have fun and post some pictures.
