Hi , I'm new here just happened to find this forum while searching for information on a swap. I have had my savage 110 E 30 06 since I was a kid 30 plus years ago. The barrel has seen its better days with 1000's of rounds shot, rust pits and so on from my many adventures from over the years. I have the opportunity to be given a new Savage 111 30 06 take off barrel. That a friend has had sitting in the closet. Will this fit my 110E?

Close the bolt on an empty chamber. If the pin that secures the bolt face to the bolt body is horizontal, then the barrel swap is a go. If the pin lays vertical, you have an older recessed bolt rifle that would require a lot more than just changing the barrel.
Hotolds442, can you expand on this a little more? I am looking at customizing my 110 as well. I am a little unsure what you mean by this.

The bolt head is recessed into the chamber end of the barrel. That means instead of being flush to the barrel end, the bolt head has to fit inside the barrel.
