Need help with a base for a Savage Sporter (23)

Hi We probably need to get into the "Way Back Machine" for this one. I have a Savage Sporter (Model 23) In .25-20. It had at one time been scoped with a 3/4 inch Weaver scope in a mount that appears to have been screwed onto the left side of the receiver. There are two threaded holes and wood mortised out where we would normally think of putting a receiver sight. The former owner said that is where the scope was mounted. I would like to put an old 3/4" scope back on it with the correct mount. The only trouble is I don't know the model number of the mount or really anything. If someone could start me on my way to finding such I would greatly appreciate it. Any other information on this old gun would also be appreciated. Thanks
