Check picture post under Stevens family reunion. There's a pic of my 338 federal. Stevens action and stock painted od green with spider web. 20" E.R. Shaw stainless fluted barrel, Rifle basix trigger @ 2lbs, Talley lightweight ring bases and a Burris FFII 3-9x40. She weighs right at 7 lbs.
There is also my Stevens 300 W.M. red and black. All factory except Rifle basix trigger and muzzle break. Right at 7.5 lbs.
And a 243 Stevens same story. Tan with web.

I was in the same quandry .....did not have a rifle that I could pack that would actually knock something over at any kind of distance (other than a 30/06). So....I built it. Found one of the lightest stocks, somewhat light scope, a medium weight barrel.....and here you have it.....also known as "Super Duece". 222 Magnum AI (204 Ruger brass necked up to 22 caliber), 1:8 twist barrel, provides 3150 fps with an 80 gr AMax.
